How Do I Effectively Use WAEC Syllabus 2023?
I employ only one approach when utilizing my syllabus for studying, and inquiries arise from every section of the syllabus. As you progress through your studies, the complexity intensifies, particularly with the final set of topics in the syllabus being the most challenging.
To tackle this, I have a method that has worked for me and I believe it will work for you too. It involves acknowledging that challenging questions can emerge from the easy, challenging, and most difficult sections of the syllabus.
. Therefore, I recommend dividing the syllabus into three parts and studying them accordingly.
Divide your syllabus into three sections and ensure you derive value from each of them since questions may come from any part. For instance, if you have 36 English language topics to cover, group topics 1-12 as the first part, topics 13-24 as the second part, and topics 25-36 as the third part, with each section consisting of 12 topics.
Study each section strategically by starting with the first part and studying at least seven topics within 3-4 weeks before moving on to the next part. If it takes you four weeks to cover seven topics in each part, you will have covered 21 topics within three months, with 15 topics remaining. You can still study ten more topics within the next two months, leaving you with six topics.
While you may not be able to study those six topics exhaustively, make sure you have some basic knowledge of them. With this approach, you will have studied 31 topics within five months, which is more than half of the syllabus. Since the syllabus is usually released three years before your final examination, you can study it multiple times to gain a thorough understanding.
Does NECO use the same syllabus as WAEC?
Although there may be slight variations, both examination bodies employ the same syllabus. Approximately 95% of the topics covered in the WAEC syllabus are also included in the NECO syllabus. While it may be challenging to locate the NECO syllabus online, you can access the WAEC syllabus and begin studying from there.
