To curb the high rate of students’ data exposure, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that the use of email addresses for JAMB registration will no longer be mandatory.

This means that before registering for JAMB, there are specific details that you must prepare, such as an active phone number, 6700 Naira for registration, and your preferred course and institution. However, having an active email address is not a requirement for registration.

Why did JAMB introduce the idea of registering without an email address?

JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, stated that cyber-cafe operators and criminals steal email passwords during UTME/Direct Entry registration, which exposes candidates’ personal information. These criminals then change and block candidates from receiving messages from the board and extort them after changing their passwords.

Based on these reasons provided by the JAMB Registrar, it seems reasonable to support the decision to discontinue the use of email for JAMB registration. To complete the 2022/2023 registration process, only a phone number is required. However, certain activities, such as accessing the Student JAMB CAPS page, require the connection of an email address to the JAMB profile.

Linking your email address to your JAMB profile is an important step in the process of registering for the 2023 JAMB UTME examination. It enables you to receive important updates and notifications from JAMB regarding your registration, examination date, and results.

In this guide, I will demonstrate how to link your email to your JAMB CAPS profile and provide information on the deadline for completing this task. Don’t mention it, that’s what friends are for! laughs.

How To Link Email Address To JAMB Profile On Caps Login

Step 1

Obtain a Valid Email Address

• The first step is to have a valid email address that you can link to your JAMB profile.
• If you don’t already have an email address, you can easily create one for free on platforms like Google or Yahoo.

Step 2:

Login to Your JAMB Profile

• Visit the official JAMB portal at www.jamb.gov.ng,
• and log in to your JAMB profile with your username and password.

Step 3

Click on the “Create Email Address” Button

• Click on the “Create Email Address” Button Once you’re logged in, navigate to the “Profile” tab on the menu and click on it.
• Then click on the “Create Email Address” button to proceed.

Step 4

Enter Your Email Address

• On the next page, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address in the provided field. Make sure to enter the correct email address and confirm it to avoid any errors.

Step 5

Verify Your Email Address

• After entering your email address, JAMB will send a verification link to your email inbox.
• Log in to your email and click on the verification link to confirm your email address.

Step 6

Link Your Email Address to Your JAMB Profile

• Link Your Email Address to Your JAMB Profile Once you’ve verified your email address,
• go back to your JAMB profile and click on the “Link Email Address” button. Enter your email address in the provided field and click on “Link Email”.

Step 7

Confirmation

You’ll receive a confirmation message indicating that your email address has been successfully linked to your JAMB profile.

Step 8

Submit your profile

• After updating your profile, click on the “Submit” button to save your changes.
• Congratulations! You have successfully linked your email address to your JAMB profile.
• You will now receive important updates and notifications from JAMB regarding your registration and examination.

It is important to note that linking your email address to your JAMB profile is a one-time process, and you do not need to repeat it for subsequent JAMB registrations. However, it is important to ensure that your email address is valid and active to receive JAMB notifications.

Linking Email Address To JAMB Profile through SMS

This method can be completed in just three minutes, provided you have at least N50 airtime on the phone number registered with JAMB. It is not necessary to pay someone else to do the job for you as I will be explaining the steps shortly. You can thank me later for saving you unnecessary expenses.

Step 1

Locate the SMS app on your Android or iPhone

• On your phone, find your messaging app. Once found, click on it to open the app

Step 2

Fill In your Email Address

• The next step is to fill in your Active Email address in the message box using this format;  “Email, your email, your email“
• make sure what you typed is in the same format as what is in the image above.

Step 3

Then click “Send” to 55019 or 66019

• After accurately filling the message box with “Email, your email, your email“ go over it again to ensure the data you entered is correct, if correct, Click on the Send Icon on your Mobile phone to 55019 or 66019

Step 4

Login To Your Email Account To Check For The Password Sent

• After clicking on the “send” button, log in to your email account (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or Hotmail) to view the password sent to you by JAMB. It is advisable to avoid using Yahoo mail due to the delay in delivery
• . The password is typically in the format of “cand******”. It is important to keep this password confidential as it grants access to your JAMB profile.

Step 5

Login To Your JAMB Portal Using your Email Address and New Password

• To verify that the linking process was successful, go to https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility_/ and use the email address that you linked to your JAMB profile, along with the new password sent by JAMB, to log in to your profile account.
• You can now check your JAMB CAPS, accept or reject admission offers, and even confirm whether your O’ level result has been uploaded to JAMB or not.

Having successfully logged in to your JAMB profile, you can now access your CAPS (Central Admission Processing System) profile. Here, you will be notified if you have been offered admission by your preferred school.
